WHAT SHE SAID

WHAT SHE SAID | W SINGAPORE - SENTOSA COVE

Launched by W Hotels Worldwide in 2016, What She Said is a global speaker series featuring inspirational women from the worlds of fashion, music, tech, media and more. W is giving these incredible women at the top of their game a stage in which to share their personal stories, inviting attendees to mix, mingle and network after each talk.

What She Said shines a light on some of the most creative, outspoken women who are shaping the world today, uniting them together for conversations that are candid and real. W is where creativity comes to play, and it’s the diversity of our guests’ opinions and our shared appetite for what’s new/next that feeds that continuous energy.

After the global launch, W Singapore - Sentosa Cove was the first W Hotel to kickstart the series in Asia. Since then, we have held two, by-invite-only events featuring women leaders in the fashion and design industry.

MEET THE LADIES

MELISSA LIM

Melissa Lim is the co-founder of LadyBoss Asia, a platform created by herself and two other partners for women to network and collaborate. The community acts as a peer support group for aspiring entrepreneurs and aims to equip women entrepreneurs with practical skills and knowledge to start and grow their businesses.

Since it started just over a year ago, more than 3000 women have attended LadyBoss events. Their digital portal also provides inspiration for women in South East Asia to dare to achieve more by highlighting the successes of women entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Apart from managing LadyBoss Asia, Melissa is also the founder of a digital consultancy firm, Cavenagh Collective. She enjoys helping other business owners grow their businesses via digital channels and creative strategies.

ROBIN LIM

Robin Lim co-founded Made Real at the age of 19, inspired by personal struggles with body-image. What started as an awareness campaign has developed into a full blown start-up.

Three years on, Made Real offers a healthy snack subscription that aims to deliver products tailored to individual nutritional needs, health goals and dietary preferences.

Robin is an avid supporter of diversity in entrepreneurship and hopes to be an inspiration for young female founders. She believes the best learning occurs outside of one’s comfort zone and one should never be afraid of pushing boundaries.

ANG JINYUAN

Ang Jinyuan is founded Style Lease in 2015. Her first foray into the fashion business began in her university days when started her own online fashion platform. Her entrepreneurial spirit took root since and she began conceptualising business ideas built around her passion.

Style Lease's mission is to reinvent retail to become smarter and more relevant to what modern women want/need - Access, instead of ownership. It has grown to become a leading brand in the fashion rental space, with new segments and initiatives in the pipes.

As a business owner, Jinyuan is a strong advocate of continuous innovation and initiatives – constantly introducing new ideas and technologies into the company. She hopes to continue to engage and impact the female community by bringing on board more options and new ideas - one step at a time, beginning from the wardrobe.
